Dr. Melissa is a familiar face here at Yates Veterinary Hospital, having been with the practice since 2013. She earned her Honors Bachelor of Science in animal biology, before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2012. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has chosen to focus on companion animals and the occasional exotic pet. She looks forward to becoming a Fear Free certified practitioner.
Before becoming a vet, Dr. Melissa has had the opportunity to work with all sorts of different animals, cementing her lifelong love of all creatures big and small. She has a special interest in animal behaviour and shelter medicine. She has been involved with several animal rescues over the years, with her house always full of foster animals. When not at the clinic, a lot of her time is spent with her quirky but lovable dogs, reading, and eating all the things that you shouldn’t (you only live once right?). She loves a good meme and cracking dad style jokes, so feel free to share them with her when at the clinic.
